Welcome
on the African Law e-Library

Welcome on the Online Library of African law e-library. Our objective is to provide access to legal texts relevant to Africa, and to offer researchers in Africa access to legal material that is unavailable in libraries on the continent. While African legal materials predominate on this website, other material (non-African) are also available. We hope you enjoy your visit, and your comments and suggestions are welcomed. If you do not find what you are looking for on our website and you come across it anywhere else, please send it to us after reading the conditions so that others can benefit from the fruits of your research. This website is entirely free; you may use any of its documents for research purposes as long as the source is cited (http://www.lexana.org and the author's name).

Introduction

African legal materials are listed by country (select National Law). The page of each country includes:
- an overview (general information, political, legal and judicial system)
- the official texts (constitutions, acts, codes, regulations, etc.)
- the jurisprudence (higher courts are listed first)
- the doctrine (thesis, lectures, essays and articles)
- a database of links

Other legal systems and comparatives studies could be found under Comparative Law; only doctrine is listed, as jurisprudence and official texts are readily available on websites listed in the database of links.

The International Law section includes materials on public international law, African international law and human rights (including international humanitarian law ). Official texts (treaties and other agreements), jurisprudence and doctrine are listed for each topic.

The sections on Political Science and International Relations are organised considering the components of the doctrine (articles, lectures, theses, essays) and the links.

Finally, the Bibliography lists seminal texts since virtual research is not always complete research, and texts on paper are certainly useful !

That said, good visit and research to you!
